Meet Your Therapist
I am glad you found my website and I look forward to meeting you. Below, you will find information about my education, professional experience, and personal style as a therapist. I hope we can make a therapeutic connection and I can help you through the challenging issue you are currently facing.
As a Limited Licensed Psychologist, I earned a Bachelor degree in Psychology at Grand Valley State University and a Masters degree in Counseling Education/Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree at Michigan State University. My graduate internship was completed at DeVos Children’s hospital in Grand Rapids.
Over the past 18 years, I worked in public schools, community mental health, residential and private practice facilities helping children, adolescents and adults make positive changes in their lives. My approach is one that is flexible, integrative and is based on specific client needs, symptoms and goals.
I received additional training in multiple treatment modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Based Therapy, Theraplay, Narrative and Expressive Arts Therapy.
I provide numerous trainings/workshops for clinicians, teachers and parents. Topics include positive parenting, attachment and bonding, effects of trauma on young children, post traumatic stress, self harm, suicide prevention and secondary trauma.
In my work with individuals, I believe the relationship they form with their therapist is the foundation for healing. My goal is to provide a warm, interactive, and nonjudgmental approach to guide clients through a process of self-discovery as well as support them in taking positive steps toward fulfilling their personal goals.
